TORROJA INGENIERA has designed, developed and implemented a whole range of Bridge Management Systems for different clients but the system implemented in the Ministerio de Fomento was the first comprehensive structure management system developed and implemented in Spain.

Besides the implementation of the system other tasks were carried out in this project:

Training of the inspection teams that were going to do the inspections of the structures. The training consisted of both theoretical and practical classes, evaluating their capacity with exams.

Set the standards and guidelines for doing the inspections and for evaluating the condition and state of maintenance of a structure.

Data migration of the existing inventory to the new management system.

Control of the inspections done form 1999 to 2002 and a reinspection to contrast and evaluate the results of the previous inspection teams. This was done in 10% of the total number of bridges inspected.
