Los Frailes Bridge over the Jucar River is located on the N-322 road, near Los Yesares, in Albacete. The overall length of the structure is 106,0 m, with a constant depth of 1,86 m. The horizontal alignment is straight.

The structural type of the bridge is a two span frame; each span is 53,0 m long. The deck is made of pre-cast prestressed girders, 40,0 m long, simply supported at the abutments. The central beam is 26,0 m long and is supported by a “V shaped” pier with 4 supports.

The central beam is a voided slab 26,0 m long, solid at the fixture points between the beam and supports. The central beam and the pier are made on-site, with conventional falsework. The pre-cast deck is made with four trapezoidal girders with half lap joints between them and the central beam.

The pier is 10,8 m high and its horizontal dimensions increase to make the “V” shape. A perimeter protection made of reinforced concrete walls was needed due to the high groundwater level.

Girders were placed from the old parallel bridge and moved in a transverse direction to their final position using provisional rails.
