The bridge over the Andarax River is located on the railway line between Almería-Linares. The total length of the bridge is 432.4 m. It is divided into six simply supported spans (L=32.4 m) and one 6 span continuous bridge. The total length of the continuous girder is 238 m, divided into 6 spans, 34+4×42,5+34 m length.

The cross section of the deck is a box section; the width of the hollow section is 3.8 m and there are two transverse cantilevers of 0.7 m. So the total width is 5.20 m and the depth of the deck is 2.8 m.

The horizontal alignment is straight, except at the end of the bridge near abutment n. 2. The piers are significantly high so the decision was taken to launch the deck.

This bridge was the first concrete bridge launched in Spain.

The deck was divided into 14 m segments built in two stages; first the lower slab of the section and then the web and the upper slab were cast. The deck was launched from one abutment using hydraulic jacks and high strength steel bars connected to the deck. A steel nose of 21.25m length was also used connected to the tip of the deck. One segment, 14 m long, was constructed and launched every 8 days.

The piers are a concrete hollow rectangular section and the thickness of the walls is 0.27 m. The foundations of the piers of the simply supported spans are directly on to the rocky layer and the foundations of the piers of the continuous girder were made using 4 concrete piles, the diameter of the piles is from 1.8 m to 2.7 m.
