In 2006 the Spanish “Ministerio de Fomento” in collaboration with similar Portuguese Authorities agreed to carry out special detailed inspections of all the bridges and border structures in common between both countries. In this project, the only structures considered were those belonging to the “Network of Roads of General Interest (RIGE)” of the state and not those that were the responsibility of the autonomous community.

There were 8 bridges located along the border that belong to the RIGE where the border is a river or waterway and the border path between both countries was the structure.

Torroja Ingeniería S.L. was selected to carry out the special detailed inspections (except the cable-stayed bridge located on the A-49 in Ayamonte). The following bridges were inspected:

Bridge over the Raya Stream (HUELVA). N-433 PK 155+300

International bridge over the River Miño (TUY) A-55 PK 173+300

International bridge over the River Miño (TUY) N-550 PK 171+700

Bridge over the River Feces de Abajo (ORENSE). N-532 PK 14+800

International bridge over the River Manzanas (ZAMORA). N-122 PK 538+150

International bridge over the River Caya (BADAJOZ). A-5 PK 407+800

International bridge over the River Caya (BADAJOZ). N-V PK 407+600

The Special Detailed Inspections, the reports about the state of conservation of the structures and the Rehabilitation Detailed Designs were done during the years 2006 and 2007, as they were needed.
